Who we are

Beaker Books is a small independent publisher run by David Collins in Heywood, Lancashire. If you have any questions about your information, email hello@beakerbooks.com.

What we collect

If you join First Readers: your email address and, if you choose to give them, your first name and the kinds of books you're interested in.

If you contact us or send a trade enquiry: your name, email address, and anything else you include, such as your organisation, phone number and message.

Like most websites, this site uses cookies and collects basic usage information through our website provider, Wix.

How we use it

We use First Readers details only to contact you about reading new books before publication. We use enquiry details only to reply to you. We won't send you marketing unless you ask for it separately, and we never sell or share your details.

Our lawful basis

For First Readers, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For enquiries, we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to you.

Where it's stored

Your details are held securely by Wix, which hosts this website.

How long we keep it

We review the First Readers list once a year and remove anyone who asks. We keep enquiries only as long as we need them, normally no more than two years.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Email hello@beakerbooks.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
